The aim of the service is to eliminate slow response times in Emergency situations to save the lives of tourists, workers and community members within the vast expanses of the African continent.

Who are we

Riccardo Mortara
Founder, Chief Pilot and Chief Training Officer

With 13,000 hours of experience, Riccardo Mortara is one of the most established professionals in his field. Aviation is in Riccardo’s blood. His father, Gregorio Mortara, was an Italian flying ace during World War II, who received the Silver Cross for his heroics.

In 1972, having completed university degrees in engineering, law and French, Riccardo began to fly, tutored by one of his father’s military colleagues.
Riccardo’s determination to set a circumnavigation record was no great surprise, given his competitive background. He used to play professional ice hockey for Italy’s national team and raced at the highest level in the World Rally Championship as a works driver for Volvo, beating many household names of the time.

Sporting achievement is a tradition in the Mortara family. His younger son, Edoardo, has won the prestigious Macau Grand Prix twice and was crowned Formula 3 Euro Series champion in 2010, and debuted in the DTM series in 2011. Edoardo currently continues to participate in prestigious racing events all over the world. Taking on the world speed record was another demonstration of sporting spirit and a ravenous hunger for challenge.

MEDEVAC

The Emergency Rescue Service has evolved into the MEDEVAC.

MEDEVAC provides a full service of Doctors and Medical Staff capable of a multitude of emergency procedures supported with the appropriate medical equipment. The Emergency Rescue Service aeroplanes are positioned to service the East and West Coast of Africa and the continent in general.

MEDEVAC Control Centre

The MEDEVAC Strategic Operations Office will be based in Nairobi, Kenya, coordinating with a dedicated control system designed to enable immediate response and safety needs of any eventuality that falls under Emergency Rescue Service parameters.

Partnerships

Over the last 11 years we have developed through SIPJ (Sonnig International Private Jets) Company- an exemplary International Jet Service covering all types of partnership arrangements, including public and private Corporations in the European area to accommodate their client’s needs for safe and secure transportation around the globe.

The dove tailing of an extended service emanating from our partnerships has assisted in the evolvement into the formal expansion of the MEDEVAC Service.

This service has been developed in conjunction with several African States /Governments. Kenya and Tanzania together with Sierra Leone currently lead the African group.

Client Base

SIPI (Sonnig International Private Jets) Ltd has vast variety of clients ranging from Corporate and individuals in the public and private sectors who have used the services and brought repeated customer business for more than 10 years

The client base has now extended to supplying a much-needed Medical Transport Service from city and remote areas in Africa with Learjets specifically designed to service the medical victim client.

Aeroplane Fleet

We have a Fleet of aeroplanes at our disposal which range from a specially developed Learjet 35 through to the Challenger Series, Gulfstream 550 Jet and with a number of additional purchases planned to bolster the overall requirements to cover the vast areas and diverse cultures on the African continent, to accommodate the current extremities of weather, unforeseen natural disasters and accidents.

Each aeroplane is specially modified to enable the Medical Team to perform a multitude of medical procedures with equipment as required.

The Legacy

MEDEVAC Service Station

RLS Aviation Ltd envisages the Medevac Emergency Rescue Service will be acknowledged as a World Class Medical Service by building a model that dramatically improves the casualty/fatality statistics across the African Continent by dramatically reducing response times.

This serviced will not only benefit nationals but service international visitors to Africa who encounter medical difficulties can rest assured they will be accommodated with a high standard of medical treatment and service whilst a long way from home.
